Inspiration || Distractions – The Small Things That Hinder The Big Things

Distraction is one major enemy of progress because it takes your attention away from what you’re supposed to be doing, and doing what you’re not supposed to be doing, hinders progress.

The Oxford English dictionary defines the word “DISTRACTION” as a thing that prevents someone from concentrating on something else.

Distraction can be in any form, it can be as mundane as watching TV, talking about TV, will I shock you if I say I’ve not watched TV in months? Yes! I haven’t and I can’t really explain why and how I’ve done that but I know I just simply learnt how to say no to some unproductive habits. I am yet to win the war over some but I celebrate the little wins. Lol!

It might be some other things for you but the consequence is the same…No result is achieved!

Walking the path God has chosen for each of us requires that we keep our eyes on the goal by staying focused on our journey and be intentional about it. We were not created to live a distracted life.

One of the things I said to myself at the beginning of this year was to be intentional about how I live my life this year, making every minute and moment count. I choose not to waste my time on anything (including people) that wouldn’t add any value to me and I’ve been making a conscious effort toward this.

That brings me to the summary of the solutions to distraction…Be intentional!

Being intentional is living your everyday life in an extraordinary way, living as you mean it. Owning each day! Making each day count!
Being intentional about your goals, being intentional about living a purposeful life, not just letting life happen to you. Taking charge of your life as you follow the leading of the Shepherd. Redeeming the time! Making each day worth living for yourself.

I like to say this a lot, when I see people that are paying attention to less important things, ” Stop being Martha, be Mary!” From Jesus’ encounter with the two sisters, Martha and Mary, where Martha was being distracted with many tasks and asked that Mary give her a hand (in her distractions oh! Imagine!) But the Lord told Martha one thing is needful. (See Luke 10:38-42)

On your journey in life, one of the needful things is FOCUS. Even Paul said “I PRESS toward the goal… (Philippians 3:14). There was a goal he was intentional about and he made the decision to simply stay focused on His goals by pressing, pursuing, running, reaching for, chasing…

Our ability to stay focused is more than just a worthwhile thing to pursue, it’s a major factor that determines our success or failure. Getting things done is imperative, and focus is one critical key to getting things done.

As someone once said, “You can’t do big things if you’re distracted by small things.” Your goals are the big things, distractions are the small things. So, as you walk your path, purpose in your heart not to allow the small things hinder you from doing the big things, be intentional about keeping your eyes on the goal. Neglect the distractions ( naysaying, habits, people, etc) because there will be but you have the choice to either entertain them or ignore them, I choose the latter!

Finally, I will leave you with this scripture: Proverbs 4:25 (TPT) “Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions.”

Faith || The God of the Master and the Slave

How many times have we allowed other people’s dictation to define our lives?
How many time have we simply written ourselves off due to our background?
How many times have we felt we are not worthy of God’s attention?
How many times have we run away from the same thing that’s meant to make us better?

This was the case with Hagar, Sarah’s slave who became Abraham’s concubine in the 16th chapter of Genesis.

Sarah was the one who ran ahead of God and the poor Hagar became the helpless victim of Sarah’s scheming!

Wait! What was Sarah even thinking or expecting? That Hagar’s child will automatically become hers? Is it that easy for a mother to give away her son? Or was she expecting loyalty from a slave who had shared her matrimonial bed with her husband? #Weird!

But the all-seeing God saw all of it and decided to come through for Hagar who had been unjustly dealt with by her mistress. I’m sure Hagar wasn’t expecting God to visit her, besides she was an Egyptian who never thought God would be interested in her case.

And one would’ve thought God had prepared a better place for Hagar to escape from her mistress’ maltreatment but God said, the way out is to go through the pain.

I have often said that you are where you are for a purpose and until the purpose is achieved, you must remain where you are. Nothing good comes easy! So, go through your pain, it’s moulding something great in you. The process is preparing you for the palace.

We saw that Sarah’s folly had its root in unbelief and her lack of faith in God’s potency to fulfill His promises brought about a mess that turned a friend of God into an adulterer, a godly woman into a wicked mistress and a poor girl into a pregnant fugitive.

You see, the consequence of our hasty actions in times of trials or the decisions we make out of impatience sometimes affect others.

But the good news is, irrespective of who you are or what you have done, God has a divine purpose for you and He is interested in EVERYBODY, both the Jew and the Greek, the high class and the low class, the rich and poor, there’s no favouritism with God. Romans 2:11

He is the God of the master and the slave.

10 Amazing Books on Godly Parenting

Hello Moms,

I’ve got great news for you all. Yippee!

So I made a list of 10 amazing books I think you should read on your parenting journey.

I have seen how some mothers take motherhood with levity and this grieves my heart.

That bundle of joy in your hand is a whole destiny which God has given you the opportunity to be the nurturer and co-builder, it’s a very serious responsibility. Motherhood is not just a job, it’s a calling, a high one at that, please don’t take it lightly.

I often say that raising children goes beyond the basic needs of life: food, shelter and clothing or sending them to the best school, your impact on your child can never be compared to that of any teacher in any school.

You are the sole determining factor of how your child turns out and this requires you making a conscious effort and being intentional about raising your child in a godly way. But you cannot impart what you do not possess. We were told from the scripture to teach and talk to our children about the commandments of the Lord.  (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)

There will be a time you will have no opportunity to tell them what to do anymore because that season would’ve passed but this season you can do much more by taking your place as a co-builder with God.

So, here is some list of books on godly parenting I think will help you on this great adventure of raising generals for the Lord:

1. The Mission of Motherhood – Sally Clarkson

No calling is greater, nobler, or more fulfilling than that motherhood. Every day, as we nurture our children, mothers influence eternal destiny as no one else can. Tragically, today’s culture minimizes the vital importance of a mother’s role.

In The Mission of Motherhood, Sally Clarkson helps you rediscover the joy and fulfillment to be found in the strategic role to which God in all his wisdom has called you, for a purpose far greater than you can ever imagine.

2. The Ministry of Motherhood – Sally Clarkson

A mother’s day is packed with a multitude of tasks that require energy and time: preparing meals, washing clothes, straightening and cleaning the house, and caring for children. These jobs all are necessary and crucially important. But in the dailyness of providing for a child’ s physical, emotional, and social needs, vital opportunities for spiritual nurture and training can be overlooked.

Using biblical wisdom and practical teachings, Sally Clarkson shows how you can make a lasting difference in your child’s life by following the pattern Christ set with his own disciples–a model that will inspire and equip you to intentionally embrace the rewarding, desperately needed, and immeasurably valuable Ministry of Motherhood.

3. The 5 Love Languages of Children – Gary Chapman & Rose Campbell

In this book, Dr. Gary Chapman and Dr. Ross Campbell help you:

  • Discover your child’s love language
  • Assist your child in successful learning
  • Use the love languages to correct and discipline more effectively
  • Build a foundation of unconditional love for your child

Plus: Find dozens of tips for practical ways to speak your child’s love language. Discover your child’s primary language—then speak it—and you will be well on your way to a stronger relationship with your flourishing child.

4. Raising Your Kids to Love the Lord – Dave Stone

Raising Your Kids to Love the Lord is the first of three books in the Faithful Families series where Pastor Dave Stone applies a practical, conversational, and humorous approach to the challenge of building a strong spiritual foundation for the family.

Topics include: Authenticity, Discipline, Modeling Godly Principles, Sharing the Load, and more.

5. Treasuring Christ When Your Hands Are Full – Gloria Furman

Motherhood is tough, and it often feels like the to-do list just gets longer and longer every day―making it hard to experience true joy in God, our children, and the gospel.

In this encouraging book for frazzled moms, Gloria Furman helps us reorient our vision of motherhood around what the Bible teaches.

Showing how to pursue a vibrant relationship with God―even when discouragement sets in and the laundry still needs to be washed―this book will help you treasure Christ more deeply no matter how busy you are.

6. Parenting – Paul Tripp

In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God’s plan for us as parents.

Outlining fourteen foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques.

Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God―grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents.

7. The Lifegiving Parent – Clay & Sally Clarkson

In The Lifegiving Parent, respected authors and parents Clay and Sally Clarkson explore eight key principles―heartbeats of lifegiving parenting―to shed light on what it means to create a home where your children will experience the living God in your family.

This book will equip you with the tools and wisdom you need to give your children much more than just a good Christian life. You’ll give them the life of Christ.

8. Raising Champion Children for God – Pst. Billy Joe Daugherty

In this book, parents will realize that there is no higher calling than raising godly children, how to frame their children with God s Word, the importance of their words and actions matching up, restructuring their priorities to spend quality time and have fun with their kids, and more.

Parents will discover keys to developing lifelong relationships with their children and grounding them in God s Word, providing their kids a foundation to build their life on.

Billy Joe inspires parents that it may not always be easy to be proactive in raising godly children, but the rewards are immense and the Holy Spirit is always there to help.

9. Bible Match Flash Cards – Kemi Oyedepo

This is an amazing material by one of my mentors, Mrs Kemi Oyedepo and I am sure it will bless you and more importantly help your children learn the scriptures (the word of God) with ease.

Every parent who desires to raise champions with the word of God dwelling in them needs this!

10. The Power of a Praying Parent- Stormie Omartian

In this life changing book, Stormie shares how you can pray through each stage of your child’s life, from early childhood to adulthood. Learn how to put your child’s life in God’s loving hands in such areas as his or her

Safety walk with God , Success in school,, Friends, family relationships, Gifts and Talents

It’s never too late to discover the joy that comes from being a part of God’s work in your child’s life. You don’t have to be a perfect parent. But you do need to be a praying parent. And you can do that.

Raising giants and champions for God requires that you are equipped to do so.
You will not fail God. Amen.

I am sure these books will bless you and you will learn a lot. So, hope I made a good choice of picking out these books? What book have you read or currently reading as a mom? Please comment below, let’s learn from one another. Thank you.

Faith || When Life Seems Overwhelming

Psalm 46:1 says:
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (NKJV)

God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven help in time of trouble — more than enough and always available whenever I need you. (TPT)

From the above scripture, we understand that God is a helper who can always be found in our times of trouble. He is always available, no network failure with Him. 😁

This implies that no mater what may be happening around us, even in the face of life’s troubles and challenges, we can take refuge and derive strength from God.

No doubt, there will be difficult times and we can either go to God who has been proven and promises to be our refuge or find an alternative but I think the former will be the best option. 😉

For with God, we can experience peace even in the midst of chaos and only those who take refuge in God are safe and strengthened to go through the difficult issues of life. 💪

God is always our ever present help, always ready to help us, He is ever near, ever faithful, ever potent Father, before we call He will answer ( Isaiah 65:24), that’s what he promised and God keeps His words. 🙌

There’s no safest place to hide than in God, there’s no better person to go to when life seems overwhelming than God. 👍
Therefore, take refuge and rest in Him.

Inspiration || Understanding Contentment In Your Calling.

I have often wondered how some people want to do everything. They are not just content in their place of assignment.

I recently worked with someone and I was always upset and at the same time wondering, why does this person want this and that? I mean, you have enough on your table that you’ve not even done justice to.

Look, I am not against people admiring what is good in others and wanting to be that. No! Because the scripture tells us to covet good gifts (1 Corinthians 12:31) and I, also admire and some times covet anything I see that is good and goes in line with my calling.

That’s not the problem, the problem is some of us don’t even know our lanes, so we can’t stay in our places of assignment because we don’t know why we have been called into that office. Now you get my point. Right?

Imagine if King Saul had stayed on his lane ‘jeje’, but he felt because he was the king, he could as well function in the office of the priest when God has not called him there. To make his case worse, he acted in disobedience and not in ignorance. (1 Samuel 13:9-14)

The truth is, you can be anything but you cannot be everything. No doubt, some of us are engraced with more than one gifts and the ability to be anything at a time but don’t stay where God has not called you to, that will be disobedience. Don’t be Jonah!
Don’t do what God has not told you to do. Learn from King Saul!

Yes! It is true that God has called everyone of us to be something for His glory. But be specific in your calling, get clarification from God if you’re not sure.

Recognize that you have not been called to be everything or be like everybody or walk in everybody’s shoes, your calling is specific to you, walking the path of other people is discontentment of purpose.

You are peculiar, so also is your assignment here on earth, understand why you’ve been called into your office, know what you have been called to do and stay on your lane. You will do well if you’re in your place of assignment because that’s where the blessing is. Selah!

Inspiration || Act Fast! Act Now!

God can give same idea to different people, He’s interested in your availability and not ability.

A lot of people are thinking what you’re thinking, you need to be smart and execute every idea God gives you as soon as right now.

Don’t delay any more! Take action now!

Besides, God can not be waiting on or for you, that’s impossible. The psalmist says “I hasten and do not delay keeping your commandments’ (Psalm 119:60)

The matter of a king requires haste you know, but some of us expect God to wait for us, we delay at His instructions and act only when it’s convenient.

Delaying on God’s instruction is to our detriment.

Prompt obedience is key.
Delayed obedience is disobedient.

Act fast! Take action now!

Faith || The Place of Abundance

Hello beloved,

So, I woke up one morning from a dream about change of levels (details kinda private 😉) and then this scripture jumped in my heart even before I thought about the dream.

I read it up and didn’t stop to pray in tongues for several hours all through that day. Don’t mind me, I can be that ‘extra’. Lol!

The scripture is Psalms 66:12 and it says
Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.” (KJV)

The Message Translation says something about God training us first, pushing us to our very limit, passing us like silver through refining fires, and finally brought us to this well-watered place. Glory to God! 🙌

One of the words the Lord gave me for this year was that there’s going to be a SHIFT from where we are to where we ought to be.

But believe me, that won’t come easily because there can’t be a SHIFT without a movement and as we all know, you don’t move an object from one place to another without experiencing some discomfort but God says out of that pain will come gain, from that place of training, you’re arising a STAR! Amen.

I said all of that to say this, where you are is just a temporary place, during the course of the year you might have to experience some discomfort but don’t forget to tell yourself that I AM SHIFTING! God is bringing me into my wealthy place!
Hehehehehehehhehehehe!!!! #Kabaya!

Please note that wealth is not all about money, but an abundance of all things that pertain to life and godliness. Amen!

Did I just preach a message? I think so too. Lol!

Inspiration || The Secret to Success

I heard Bishop David Oyedepo say ‘The Holy Ghost cannot remind you what He has not taught you.” And I found it to be very true.

We cannot be taught unless we attend His class and we can only attend His class majorly by studying (His words, inspired books in areas of interest).

God is not a magician! There are always two sides of a coin.

For every of God’s instruction, there is always the part of God and your own part.

And without any iota of doubt, God will always keep to His part but what about us?

In your chosen field of endeavor, you cannot succeed unless you take time to study and search out what is needed to succeed and that is your part to play.

All men or women of exploit are the ones who give in to studying.

Daniel was a very great man in Babylon, with a very busy schedule (Prime minister of a state) but he still found time to read and did thorough searching and studying.  He said I, Daniel understood by books. (Dan 9:2)

Paul reminded Timothy to bring along his books (2Tim 4:13). Even in prison, he was still building his mind.

You shouldn’t be surprised he wrote most of the New Testament books.

So what excuse do you have?

Seriously, you cannot grow beyond your level of knowledge.

Studying is not only for students or people in academics. Even in that your small business, when was the last time you read a book on business growth and development? In your career, how many self development books have you read?

The ones you bought, have you read them?

There are people who have gone ahead, from whom we can glean from their knowledge, expertise and experience to be the best at our present level.

Like someone said “The quality of a man’s life is in direct proportion to his commitment to excellence regardless of his chosen field of endeavor.”

It is what you have been taught or what you have read, that you’re reminded of.

No one succeed without paying the sacrifice of putting in some extra time in the place of studying.

If you want to be prosperous and have good success in that your chosen field of endeavor, I think you will do well if you spend some time to study (Joshua 1:8).

I hope you take responsibility for your life. Selah!
